UNFORTUNATE WEEKEND FOR STEFAN BRADL AT MUGELLO GP

showImage (6)

Mugello, 1 June: LCR Honda’ Stefan Bradl did not enjoy his Italian weekend at Mugello circuit this year especially today when he suffered two heavy crashes, initially in the warm up session and later in the race. The German was the involuntary protagonist of a tremendous high-side this morning during the 20-min warm up session from which he escaped unharmed but considerably bruised. He steadily started from the ninth spot on the grid but went down on lap four, hit by Crutchlow’s bike.

Stefan: “I am speechless. I was anxious to race here in Mugello but now I want to forget this weekend as soon as possible. This morning I had a massive crash in the warm up session and I had to deal with the pain in the race (especially the right arm and the elbow). The feeling with the bike was good but after the start, in the first corner, I went wide loosing three positions. After that I was preparing to overtake the guys in front of me but suddenly in the second chicane on turn five Crutchlow crashed and his bike tumbled in the track and I was not able to avoid it. His bike hit me in the back and I had another big crash similar to this morning. This morning at 360° and this afternoon at 180° so I will leave Italy with zero points and a lot of pain. Once again I must thank the Team for their efforts and all the LCR supporters for their affection”.

UNEXPECTED TOUGH Q2 SESSION FOR BRADL: 9th ON THE GRID OF MUGELLO GP

mugelloq2

Mugello, 31 May: today’s second outing at Mugello race track has been extremely tough for LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl who initially suffered a crash in the fast sector on turn 13 in this morning free session, and later in the afternoon, he struggled to make the most from his RC213V qualifying in 9th place ahead tomorrow’s 23-lap race.

Stefan: “It was a quite tough qualifying and I am disappointed about my grid position because I wanted to be more in front especially on this race track. Anyway the lap time is good and with 1 tenth faster we could have been on the second row. The Team made a good job today after the crash and I have a good feeling on the bike for the race tomorrow. Starting from the third row is not what I was expecting but there’s a long way to the first corner and many things can happen. As I said yesterday the Ducati riders have a strong pace here and it is going to be a close race but we’ll try our best to finish in the top five”.

BRADL 7th FASTEST AT MUGELLO ON DAY ONE

mugellodayone

Mugello, 30 May: the premier class rider took the Mugello circuit today for the first day of practices of the Gran Premio d’Italia but some light rain in the afternoon prevented the riders from improving their bikes and lap times. LCR Honda’ Stefan Bradl, who recorded the 7th quickest lap time in this morning FP1 (1’48.925), sat out the 45-min second session together with his colleagues but he is ready to go back in action tomorrow as a real estimator of the Tuscan circuit.

Stefan: Actually the 7th place is acceptable but we could use the second session to adjust the bike. Anyway the good thing is that this morning we have tried different solutions with the bike settings and I went longer with the swing-arm length and this was the biggest step we have tried today. We have done some laps with that but later we came back to our standard bike and we could really improve our lap time on used tyres and this is very important. It’s good for my confidence to go fast on used tyres at the end of the session. It’s not going to be easy especially with Ducati as they tested here and they are pretty strong on this track. Let’s see how the weather will be tomorrow and we go ahead with our plan to make a good qualifying”.

BRADL KEEN TO BOUNCE BACK IN MUGELLO

mugello2_edit

Mugello, 29 May: LCR Honda racer Stefan Bradl faces a new challenge this weekend in Italy at the magnificent Mugello circuit where he finished in 4th place in the last two years. The German is a big fan of the spectacular venue set in a narrowing valley packed with passionate fans, and after the disappointing seventh place of Le Mans GP, he will be striving to make amends at the Italian track riding his LINEAR branded RC213V.

Stefan: “I am very excited about next weekend in Mugello. This is one of my favourite race tracks: I like the layout and the fast corners and I hope that we can for go for a better result because we struggled too much at Le Mans. In the last two years I finished the race in fourth place and it would be great to gain the podium amongst all the LCR supporters. This race is very important for Lucio and his team and we must regain our standard placement up in the pack”.

BRADL ENDS IN 7TH HIS COMPLEX FRANCE GRAND PRIX

showImage (5)

Le Mans, 18 May: the LCR Honda MotoGP rider Stefan Bradl rode his Honda RC213V to the seventh place in today’s 28-lap France GP scoring further important points which saw him holding the 6th place in the world classification. The German rider took an incredible start from the second row imposing his pace for several laps up in the pack, but he failed to keep fighting for the podium reporting some rear-end issues.

Stefan: “Honestly I am not so happy today because the 7th position is not what we expected. Maybe the problem is the change we made from the warm up to the race on the rear suspension trying to find more edge grip. Definitively we went in the wrong direction because at the beginning on a new tyre I was pretty fast, but after 6/7 laps I was not able to use my rear tyre out of the corners. I have tried to regain something on breaking but then I found my limit on the front, so Espargaro and Bautista passed me. For the rest of the race I could not find my pace and I managed to finish 7th. I am looking forward to Mugello GP because that’s one of my favourite tracks and we can go for more there”.

BRADL GETS THE 4TH SPOT ON THE GRID AHEAD FRENCH GP

showImage (4)

Le Mans, 17 May: premier class riders completed their second day of work at sunny Le Mans circuit ahead tomorrow’s 28-lap race which will see LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl starting from the 4th spot on the grid. Bradl showed his fully recovered form after the arm pump surgery of last week, recording a 1’32.846 fastest lap time on his ELF branded RCV. The German expects a very close race in the front because he will share the second row with Rossi and Lorenzo but he is determined to finish the French Grand Prix in the top-five.

Stefan: “After yesterday’s several tests, we went back to our standard geometry that we used in the past races because I have more front feeling. Our pace is pretty good and I am happy about the 4th place today (also considering my recent surgery) but we must be realistic. The other riders are very fast too and I am starting from the second row with two big rivals like Rossi and Lorenzo. Even Pedrosa will push to catch the front group so our target is to finish in the top five. This would be a very good result for us. My arm is getting better and today it was not necessary to have a painkiller injection”.

BRADL IN GOOD SHAPE AT LE MANS GP OPENING DAY

showImage (3)

Le Mans, 16 May: MotoGP riders headed out for the first day of practices of the Grand Prix de France in unforeseen sunny conditions with Stefan Bradl lapping the “stop-and-go” circuit in 1’34.040. The German arrived in France with high expectations after the surgery he sustained last week to treat the arm-pump symptoms, and todays’ sixth fastest lap time confirms that Bradl is in a good shape.

Stefan: “Today we tried two different geometries of the bike which we tested already in Jerez testing day. The result so far is so and so as we had some advantages on the new geometry and some disadvantages on both bikes. We must find a clear solution for tomorrow because it seems that the new geometry is quite good but we still loose too much time in corner entry. Overall I am quite satisfied because the sixth position is not bad. I only had three laps on soft tyres at the end of session two and I made a small mistake in my flying lap passing another rider. Physically I am ok (just a small painkiller injection for my arm) so if we find the way to improve the bike we can go faster for sure”.

ARM-PUMP HINDERS BRADL’S RACE IN JEREZ

showImage (2)

Jerez, 4 May: in today’s Gran Premio de Espana at Jerez circuit, LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl managed to finish the 27-lap race in 10th position battling with some unexpected arm pump problems. The German was quite satisfied with the work carried out over the course of the last two days and was aiming to produce another strong result. But his race has been more difficult than he was expecting because, after few laps, Bradl had to cope with some arm pump problems that heavily affected his performance. He will carry on with the post-race test tomorrow but will see his doctor on Tuesday for a deep medical check.

Stefan: “I am very disappointed! After few laps I could feel a problem with my right arm similar to the one we had in the past with the arm-pump. This track is particularly demanding and I could not get the right feeling on braking and going on throttle so I just managed to finish this disappointing race. This unexpected problem destroyed my race and it’s not an excuse because we had the right pace to fight with the front guys. I had a successful surgery to cure this problem on November 2012 but I definitely have to see the doctors once I go back after the test tomorrow”.

BRADL SATISIFIED WITH HIS 7TH SPOT ON JEREZ GP GRID

showImage (1)

Jerez, 3 May: this morning session at sweltering Jerez de la Frontera circuit saw LCR Honda rider Stefan Bradl setting the 6th fastest time which secured him the “access” to the QP2 session as estimated yesterday by the German. Bradl was pleased with his remarkable progression on the Iberian track that has been always tough for him since his debut in the premier class. The 24-year-old posted the 7th lap time on soft tyres (1’39.243) and will start from the third row followed by Smith and Espargaro.

Stefan: “I have tried to do my maximum in the qualifying because the target was to be in second row and we missed it for 0.021s only. So we can be happy because we did a good job on a race track that has been always very tough for me on a MotoGP bike. We improved a lot compared to the last two years and we have the possibility to end the race in the top five. This would be good for me and the Team and for the ranking. Tomorrow’s common problem will be the tyre wear because of the hot temperatures but we have found a good pace on used tyres”.

BRADL 8th FASTEST AT SCORCHING HEAT IN JEREZ ON DAY ONE

showImage

Jerez, 2 May: opening day of Grand Prix of Spain got underway today at Jerez circuit with tropical temperatures forcing the riders to make an extra effort to deal with the first two 45-min sessions. LCR Honda racer Stefan Bradl was not particularly enthusiastic with his first outing on the Iberian track finishing the day 8th with a 1’40.644 best lap time but the German admits to be still confident for tomorrow’s last timed free session.

Stefan: “We tried to adapt to the circumstances considering the hot temperatures and the tyres situation. It seems not as bad as last year (when we had a very tough weekend) because we are in a better shape but I am still struggling on this circuit. At the end of the afternoon session we could not improve our lap time due to the hot temperature and we changed the geometry of the bike and some parts trying to get a better corner entry. We found some small improvements and we saved the tyres for tomorrow morning in order to be qualified for Q2. This is the most important thing at the moment”.
